Ronald Edward Winkler, age 63, of Stratford, beloved
husband of Susan (Lowrey) Winkler, entered eternal life Friday, February 2,
2007 at his home with his loving family at his side. Mr. Winkler was born
December 1, 1943 in Bridgeport, son of the late Edward Thomas and Dorothy Anne
(Siksay) Winkler and had been a lifetime area resident. He was a retired City
of Bridgeport Police officer, Division of Campus Security, University of
Bridgeport. He was a loving and caring person, who donated his time to many
causes including being very active in Stratford's American Cancer Society,
Relay for Life program, as well as his work at the Ron Cali Rehabilitation
Center. He was a connoisseur of great food, an avid sports fan, loved his
Boston Red Sox and his Washington Red Skins and a member of the Gaelic American
Club, Fairfield. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his four
cherished children, Bryan Lowrey of Austin, Texas, Deborah Bobola and her
husband, Andrew, of Newton, N.H., Kristine Barber of Sarasota, Fla. and
Jennifer Rasmussen and her husband, Robert, of Stratford; two brothers, Mark
Winkler and his wife, Barbara, of Milford and Edward Winkler of Bridgeport; one
sister, Ruthanne Winkler and her fiancé, Dean Cyr, of Milford; the devoted
grandfather of Logan Rasmussen, Katelyn Barber, Will Barber and Liam Rasmussen;
his aunt, Ethel Siksay of Milford; and many nieces and nephews. Friends are
invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at 9:15 a.m.
in The William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford and at
10:30 a.m. in Saint James Church, Stratford for a funeral Mass of Christian
Burial. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call
Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the Stratford
