John Steven Brunt, age 62 of Stratford, died Monday, May 19,
2008 in the loving arms of his devoted wife at the Connecticut Hospice in
Branford. His beloved wife, Bonnie Weaver, never left his side during his
illness. John was born October 7, 1945 in Bridgeport, the son of Frances Kratky
Brunt of Stratford and the late Willard Brunt. He graduated from Harding High
School and the Connecticut Police Academy. John retired from the Stratford
Police Department in 1999 after 31 years of service ending his career as a
detective. He enjoyed NASCAR Racing, gardening and restoring his vintage truck.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, John R. Brunt
and his wife, Shannon of Trumbull; daughter, Linda Gauvin and her husband,
Matthew of Stratford; one brother, Willard (Bill) Brunt of Stratford; two
grandchildren, Aidan Brunt and Madalyn Gauvin; one nephew, Jeffery Brunt of
Belgium; and sister-in-law, Darlene Perry and her husband, Thomas of Bethlehem.
He is also survived by many dear friends who were so helpful with his care
especially, Ricky Waite, his partner on the force and best friend. A memorial
service was held Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Stratford Baptist Church, 131
Huntington Rd., Stratford with the Rev. Dr. Robert Genevicz officiating. Donations
may be made to the charity of one's choice. The Dennis & D'Arcy Funeral
Home of Stratford was entrusted with arrangements.
