John Patrick "Big John" Addenbrooke, age 69 of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Beverly Foiw Addenbrooke, died Saturday, August 2, 2008. Born in Bridgeport to the late John G. and Mary O'Brien Adden-brooke, he was especially proud of his Irish heritage and the fact that his grandfather, Patrick O'Brien's name, was carried by several family members. John was a retired Bridgeport Police officer and a U.S. Army veteran, having been called to active duty from the Army Reserve. He was also a great lover of Irish music. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his beloved children, five sons, John Addenbrooke of Florida, Patrick Addenbrooke and his wife, Melinda of Ohio, Jeffrey Addenbrooke of Bridgeport, Brent Addenbrooke and his wife, Kim of Bridgeport and Drew Addenbrooke of Ohio; one daughter, Erin O'Keefe and her husband, Michael of Stratford; 10 grandchildren, Brandy, Cara, Shawn, Patrick, Sean, Caileigh, Liam, Brent, Ava and Amber; two great-grandchildren, Camden and Brianna; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Addenbrooke. Friends are invited to attend the funeral Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 10 a.m. DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Pistey Funeral home, 2155 Main St., Stratford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in John's memory be made to The American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Rd., Wilton, CT 06897.
