Father David Krahel, Roman Catholic Chaplain for the Geriatric Apostolate in the Stamford area, died Monday, July 21, 2008 at Stamford Hospital. He was priest in residence at Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish, Stamford. Father Krahel was born in 1939 in Wilkes-Barre , Pennsylvania. He is predeceased by his parents Sophia and Stanley Krahel. He did his early schooling at St. Michael the Archangel Parochial School and Warren Harding High School, both in Bridgeport. Father Krahel earned a B.A. from the University of Connecticut and completed his seminary studies at Holy Apostles seminary in Cromwell, CT. Prior to his ordination to the Catholic priesthood, he worked as a member of the curatorial staff of the Detroit Institute of the Arts and the Hagley Museum in Wilmington, Delaware. He also held the position of Assistant Director of the International Oceanographic Foundation in Miami. Throughout his priesthood, Fr. Krahel served in many parishes. Before moving to his last residence at Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish, he served at St. Clement Parish in Stamford, St. James Parish in Stratford, St. Charles Parish in Bridgeport, St. Mary Parish in Norwalk and St. Gregory the Great Parish in Danbury.
