Charles E. Heard

 Minister Charles E. Heard, age 61, of Bridgeport, died suddenly at home Tuesday, April 25, 2006. Born in Elberton, Ga., "Charlie" as he was known by most of his friends had been a resident of this city for the last 59 years. He was educated in the Bridgeport school system and graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1962. He furthered his education at Housatonic Community College where he earned an associates degree in business administration. He worked many years at Avco-Lycoming, a division of Textron and was most recently employed as the director of scheduling at the Discovery Museum. Charlie served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. He was a member of Turner's Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C., International, and served on the ministerial staff as well as with the Outreach Ministry. He was a former member of the Newfield Tennis Club and an avid CB operator, fisherman and automobile aficionado. Survivors include a son, Charles M. Heard of Stratford; two daughters, Jessica Blackwell of Stratford and Sade Heard of New Haven; two sisters, Mattie Craig and Emma Dobson of Cleveland, Ohio; a granddaughter, Brianna Jean-Baptiste of Stratford; and his fiance Carlotta Numan of Stratford; nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Sunday 8 p.m. in Turner's Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C., International, 360 Colorado Avenue, Bridgeport with Bishop J.C. White, Pastor, officiating. Interment will take place Monday 10 a.m. in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends are invited to the viewing Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the church. Morton's Mortuary, 25 Margaret E. Morton Lane, Bridgeport, is in charge of arrangements.
