Robert L. Ventulett Jr., age 60, of East Haven, died at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, September 19, 2005. Born in Bridgeport to Catherine (Mitchell) Ventulett and the late Robert L. Ventulett Sr., Bob was raised in Stratford. He had also resided in Atlanta, Los Angeles and San Francisco for many years prior to returning to Connecticut. Mr. Ventulett received a baccalaureate degree in Fine Arts and Design from the Parson's School of Design in New York City. A gifted interior designer, Bob began his career at Savard's in Westport and had been featured in articles for House Beautiful magazine. He had also been employed at Macy's and Bloomingdales as a designer and accessories buyer. Bob also worked independently on interior design projects in the United States and Europe. He had also enjoyed success as an antique dealer with a primary focus and expertise with 18th Century watercolors. Bob had a great sense of aesthetics, not only in art and design, but also in his appreciation for music, dance and film. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, including his mother, Catherine Ventulett of Stratford; his partner, Alan Stankiewicz; and their beloved dog and protector, Sammi, of East Haven; sister, Patricia Kovalik and her husband, Vincent, of Stratford; brother, Albert Ventulett and his wife, Virginia, of Massachusetts; niece and nephews, Jon Ventulett, Robert Ventulett III, Allison Ventulett, Vincent Kovalik Jr. and his wife, Cynthia and Michael Kovalik; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to benefit one of Bob's favorite causes, an organization that rescues wild animals c/o Vincent and Cynthia Kovalik (Wild Life Rescue), 215 Charles St., Stratford, CT 06615 or American Cancer Society, Meriden Executive Park, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.
