Robert J. Locke, Sr., age 70 of Seymour, the beloved husband of the late Beverly Wright Locke, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford after a brave battle with cancer. He was born in Queens, N.Y., July 20, 1938, the beloved son of the late James and Amelia Locke. Bob was a roofer for more than 40 years, retiring from the F.J. Dahill Company in 1999. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958. He attended school in Bridgeport and moved to Seymour in 1964. Bob was a lifelong member of the Concordia Singing Society and enjoyed traveling with his late wife. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball and camping and also enjoyed fishing as he became older. Bob will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. His loving family includes his devoted sons, Robert J. Locke, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. and Jeffrey Locke and his wife, Marilyn of Southbury; his loving daughter, Christine Randolph and her husband, Richard of Milford; his cherished grandchildren, Jessica Locke, Rachael Randolph, Kayla Randolph and Jesse Randolph; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was predeceased by his brothers, James Locke and Charles (Ray) Locke and his sister, Elaine Koutrakos. A Memorial Service in Memory of Bob's Life will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT. 67, opposite Klarides Village) Seymour. Interment, with full military honors accorded, in the family plot at Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4 to 8 p.m.
