Margaret M. Kiernan, age 92, of Monroe, formerly of Bridgeport,
died Friday, March 3, 2000, in Astoria Park Health Care, Bridgeport.
Miss Kiernan was born in Bridgeport, attended local schools, and
graduated cum laude from Smith College. She did graduate work at
Teachers College of Columbia University and at the University of
Bridgeport. She taught high school in Bridgeport until 1969, when she
retired from Harding High School. Miss Kiernan was a member of St. Jude
Parish, St. Ambrose Madonna Rosary Confraternity, Council of Catholic
Women, Queen/s Daughters, Greater Bridgeport Retired Teachers
Association, Connecticut Education Association, and National Education
Association. Survivors include a beloved nephew, John Francis Kiernan
and his wife, Francene, and their children, Brian John, and Jillian
Margaret Kiernan, all of Monroe; and a cousin, Hugh Kiernan of
Bridgeport. Services will be held on Monday at 8:45 a.m. in the
Lesko-Miner Funeral Home, 155 Main Street (Rte. 25) in Monroe, and at
9:30 a.m. at St. Jude/s Church. Interment in St. Michael/s Cemetery in
Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.
